Waxing

Benefits of waxing
Waxing is long lasting. Areas of the body where hair has been removed by wax will not grow back from 2 – 8 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle.

The hair is removed from the root so that hairs grow back with a tapered end. This means that when the hair does grow back, it is not coarse like shaved hair, it is much softer.

Hair growth is not increased by waxing and will eventually allow the new hair to grow through at the same rate and thinner than it was.

It does take a few treatments to ensure that the rate of hair growth is even.

What to expect

Each intimate waxing treatment is tailored to the individual and I aim to deliver comfort, minimal pain and an excellent result.

Intimate waxing treatments are carried out without underwear on to ensure a precise wax. I won’t ask you to put your legs behind your head or up on my shoulder etc.

Absolute discretion is paramount and I really have seen it all before!

Your first wax is bound to be the most daunting but as you continue with your waxing routine pain reduces as the hair gets thinner, and you’ll feel more comfortable once you get to know me.

Please bring loose fitting clothing and arrive fresh and clean! I do provide freshening wipes too. I also ask that you bring clean underwear for after your treatment to maintain hygiene.

Any inappropriate language or behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the studio.

Will it hurt?

Your pain threshold has a lot to answer for. If you do experience discomfort, it will only be very brief. After your first few waxes, the discomfort will lessen as the hair grows back thinner and you also get used to your hair being removed by wax.

If you do find it uncomfortable, try taking a simple painkiller half hour before your appointment.

When can I have an intimate wax?

Ideally, the hair needs to be around 1cm long and this is usually 2 – 3 weeks from shaving or 4 weeks from waxing.

After my wax
After your first wax, you may experience some regrowth and a stubbly finish until the hair cycle is in “sync”.

You will start to notice a more regular hair growth cycle after 3 to 4 waxes and the hair will grow back thinner and less coarse.

What about a reaction?

Everybody’s skin behaves differently after intimate waxing. You may experience irritation or redness as the skin can be distressed after the first couple of waxing treatments, but we offer clear aftercare advice and products that help to soothe the skin.

The wax is designed to be gentle but effective and discomfort after a wax should be minimal.

You may also experience some itching as the hair breaks through but following our aftercare will alleviate any discomfort.

Will I suffer with ingrown hairs?

If you follow the aftercare advice we provide, the risk of ingrown hairs does reduce but are unfortunately inevitable in some cases.

A hair follicle is never empty and contains a gland that produces sebum. When the follicle is free of hair, sebum may be produced meaning that the new hair grows within it forming what looks like a blackhead.

The other cause of ingrown hairs is when the skin heals over the follicle before the new hair has grown causing the hair to grow sideways. Regular exfoliation and moisturising will help to reduce this.

For the Girls…

Pubic hair has been removed for thousands of years for various reasons, whether it be for religion, hygiene, partner preference and even comfort! Since the 1980’s The Brazilian wax has become increasingly popular and lots more styles and techniques have been developed to suit everybody!

Intimate waxing is the removal of pubic hair from the pubic region. This can be anything from the basic bikini line (the hair just outside of the knicker line) to a Hollywood wax (the hair from the entire pubic triangle, labia, perineum and butt crack).

Whatever your preference, here at The Beauty Cabin we can cater for all your waxing needs.

I’m on my period, can I still be waxed?

Yes of course you can! As long as you’re wearing a tampon that can be tucked away and you maintain good levels of hygiene, there is no reason why you can’t have a wax. However, you may prefer to wait until you have finished menstruating as it can increase sensitivity and you may experience a little more pain than usual.

For the guys…

Male grooming is growing in demand.

Here at The Beauty Cabin we provide a professional waxing service for men in a clean and neutral environment ensuring utmost comfort and discretion.

We can wax backs, chests, necks, legs, feet, arms, hands and underarms.

For the face, we wax brows, nostrils, cheekbones and ears. We can also perform full body waxes which are brilliant for clients that enjoy sports and fitness, bodybuilding, modelling or even just being hair free! (To name a few reasons!)

Our male intimate waxing options are extensive from the notorious “Back, Sack and Crack” wax, a basic ‘tidy up’ (Speedo Wax) to everything off (Male Brazilian Wax) depending on your preference.

“The Erection Section”

I very often get asked, “What happens if I get an erection?”

The answer is always, “We just carry on”

Erections are common during an intimate waxing treatment and the waxing service will continue as long as your behaviour is not inappropriate. I am here to carry out a professional and high quality service, nothing more, nothing less.

Beauty Treatments

Lash Lift & Tint

Can I have my lash lift & tint at the same time?

Yes you can.

Can I have a lash lift and then eyelash extensions? Should there be a waiting period in between services?

It is totally ok to have a lash lift and then have extensions. I would recommend waiting 24 hours in between treatments.

Will a lash lift hurt?
Not at all. A lash lift is a totally painless, non-invasive treatment. You will have to have your eyes closed for around 45 minutes whilst the treatment is taking place.
How long should I wait in between lash lifts?
Each client is different depending on their lash cycle. On average, I’d recommend waiting 4-8 weeks in between treatments.
Do I have to remove my make-up before the treatment?
Yes you do, preferably with an oil free make-up remover. If you’re coming straight from work I can remove your make-up using Micellar water or you can bring your own.
Can I get my lashes wet after the treatment?
No, try to keep your lashes dry for at least 24 hours after the treatment. This also includes avoiding the use of saunas or steam rooms etc
Can I have a lash lift / lash tint if I have an eye infection?
No you can’t as the chemicals may aggravate the condition or even spread it to your other eye. If you have something wrong with your eye/s please get in touch prior to booking your treatment.

Eyebrow Tint

Can I have my brows tinted and waxed at the same appointment?
Yes you can. The tint is done first then the brows are waxed.
My eyebrows are already dark, is it worth having them tinted?
The benefits of tinting include not only colour but also tone and gloss. Many clients who have their brows tinted find that with they apply no to minimal makeup to their brows. Tinted eyebrows also enhance natural beauty and give the appearance of fuller brows. Fuller eyebrows look more youthful. Even dark brows, when tinted, look more defined. Some might not realize that eyebrows get lighter with age and with sun exposure. Even dark eyebrows looked refreshed when tinted.
Can I have my eyebrows tinted if they’ve previously been microbladed?
Yes you can. Any tattooed eyebrows can still be tinted as it dyes the hair and will leave you with a more defined, three-dimensional, natural looking brow.
